Training, qualifications and experience

I am a fully qualified counsellor having achieved a DipHE in Counselling July 2018 from Waverley Abbey College, (validated by the University of Roehampton). I have been gaining counselling experience over the past five years, counselling adults. Recently I have set up in private practice which compliments and runs alongside the work at Restore. I have a degree in Primary Education (B.Ed.) and worked in schools for over twenty years with a particular interest in Special Educational Needs. My hope now is to provide counselling support for both parents and teachers as well as offering inclusive counselling to all.

I have recently completed a qualification in online and telephone counselling, which provides additional flexibility should people be unable or not wish to meet in person.

About the way I work

The counselling model I use is an integrative one, which means I draw upon a range of approaches so that counselling can be tailored to a person’s individual needs and goals because everyone’s life story is different. Together we can decide the best route towards exploring, understanding, and working towards resolving the problems/burdens you may be carrying. I believe that building a trusting partnership is a key component to facilitating constructive change.

I am a Member of the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC) and so I adhere to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. To ensure safe practice I receive appropriate levels of supervision and enjoy ongoing professional development via formal training and engaging with counselling resources and colleagues.
