Training, qualifications and experience
I qualified in 2017 with a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC) abiding by their ethical frameworks. I receive regular supervision for my work.
My working life started out in the City, in an investment team for a large bank. Looking for something more I went to work for Social Services for several years, where I worked in a special needs unit with young people with autism and other disabilities. I then worked in a homeless hostel and volunteered with the street teams. I joined Kent County Council spending the next few years working in the education system. After experiencing the transformative power of counselling for myself in 2012 I decided to have a complete career change and spent the next five years studying to become a counsellor.
As part of my Continuous Professional Development, I have attended training courses on a variety of topics which include:
- Working with Endings
- Disordered eating
- Children and Young People Foundation Certificate
- Person Centred Master class
- Emotional Freedom Technique - EFT Tapping
- Working with Shame
About the way I work
With kindness, compassion and acceptance I offer 1:1 counselling for children, young people and adults. Within an empathic, accepting and non-judgemental relationship, we will work together at your pace to recognise your strengths, creativity and choices.
I offer a place for you to pause; make sense of where you are, to say what's going on and be heard. I am also informed that 'kindness' is my superpower.
My work uses an integrative approach, which means that I use a variety of tools and techniques from a number of different theories. I work with a variety of areas such as anxiety, stress, low mood, life and relationship issues, addiction, trauma, abuse and loss. I believe in hope, possibility and that everyone has the power to change. I believe that there is always a choice, or another way.
