Shanila Igglesden
Training, qualifications and experience
I am a trainee psychotherapist, currently doing my Masters degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy for Children, Adolescents and their Families at the university of Roehampton in London.
I have a diploma in early years education, a degree in psychology and over 12 years experience working with children and young people in both teaching and 1:1 mental health and emotional wellbeing support roles.
I also hold a certificate in working 1:1 with parents to support their emotional wellbeing, and have a special interest in working with children and their families.
About the way I work
I am training as an integrative psychotherapist and mainly work in a client led, person-centred approach. I believe that every individual is unique and has the ability to reach their full potential if provided with a safe space to grow at their own pace.
I use play and creative approaches in my work as I believe this is especially helpful when working with children and young people who may not always want to express their thoughts, emotions and feelings with words.
